As has been happening in the recent games of São Paulo, playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso was once again one of the team’s highlights on Sunday afternoon, in the 1-1 draw against Ituano.
Against Ituano, Ganso registered his sixth goal of 2016, and has now found the net in each of the team’s last five games. In addition to the goal, Ganso hit the frame of the goal with a beautiful shot and almost decided the game in the second half, before Ituano levelled the score. Still, São Paulo coach Edgardo Bauza wants more from the midfielder. In a press conference after the match at the Estádio Novelli Júnior, the coach praised the performance of the team’s number 10, but once again said that Ganso can play better than his current level, and return to the Brazilian national team. Bauza said: “Ganso is able to play much better than he has been playing now. What we are doing is working with him, so that he can return to the national team.”
Bauza also spoke about the difficult period of São Paulo who are winless in their previous five matches. He added: “The team should continue working, and that’s what we’ve done. There is no other way to reverse the situation. Keep working, and each should give their best in every game.”
