Corinthians renew the contract of defender Yago, and increases the salary of Guilherme Arana

Central defender Yago, who has been a starter at Brasileirão champions Corinthians since the sale of Gil to China, has extended his contract and received a salary increase.

Young left-back Guilherme Arana, who’s currently a back up option for Uendel, also had an increase in his wages. The information was published in the Brazilian football federation on Friday. Yago, who had a contract with Timão until the end of this year, signed a new bond which runs until the end of 2019. The values ​​that Yago and Guilherme Arana have received were not disclosed by the club. After two seasons on loan at Bragantino, Yago returned to Corinthians in early 2015, but spent much of the season as a reserve. The player, who had good performances also at left-back, won the trust of coach Tite. The situation changed when Corinthians lost more than half of their starting XI players after the end of the Brazilian Championship last year. Following the sale of Gil to Chinese club Shandong Luneng, Yago became a member of the starting line-up during the pre-season in the United States, and pleased. Paraguayan centre-back Fabián Balbuena was bought as a replacement for Gil, but he has failed to win the spot, so far.
