Former Santos president Odílio Rodrigues appeared before a judge in Brazil on Tuesday to testify in an investigation into the alleged irregularities regarding his transfer to Barcelona in 2013.
President of the Brazilian team at the time of the transaction in May 2013, Odílio Rodrigues spoke for around four hours, from 2pm to 6pm. At the exit, Odílio Rodrigues, who was surrounded by four lawyers, rushed to the parking lot to avoid the journalists waiting outside, and quickly left in his car. The former president has practically avoided talking with journalists since he left the office at the Vila Belmiro in December 2014. The new hearing on the Neymar case was a request from the Spanish Justice, and happened in the Federal Court in São Paulo. The father of Neymar, Neymar da Silva Santos, his mother, Nadine Gonçalves Santos, and representatives of the current board of Santos, have also been called, but the hearing was canceled because they have spoken to the court in Spain. The action being processed in Spain was following a lawsuit by investment group DIS, that held 40% of the economic rights of Neymar. The investment fund claims that they should’ve received their share from the total transfer fee of over €80 million, and not from the €17.1 million that was paid to Santos.
