Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association, after his behaviour following his red card in Saturday evening’s 2-0 F.A. Cup defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

The temperamental forward was sent off for two yellow cards after two altercations with Gareth Barry, who was later dismissed himself for two bookable offences. Costa became embroiled in a feud with Barry following the red card, but the Everton man insists Costa did not bite him.

Nevertheless, the FA have charged Costa for misconduct, explaining, "Diego Costa has been charged in relation to Chelsea’s FA Cup sixth round fixture against Everton on Saturday 12 March 2016. It is alleged his behaviour, after being shown a second yellow card in the game, amounted to improper conduct. He has until 6pm on Thursday 17 March 2016 to respond to the charge."

He will also be questioned after appearing to aim an offensive gesture at Everton fans as he made for the tunnel at half time, with the F.A statement adding, "Meanwhile, the Chelsea striker has until Wednesday [16 March 2016] to provide his observations to The FA in relation to an alleged gesture he made towards Everton supporters while leaving the pitch at half-time."
