If Inter Milan finish the Italian Championship in third place and gets into to the playoffs of next season"s Champions, then defender João Miranda will not play in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this August.
Dunga was in Milan, accompanied by his assistant Andrey Lopes and coordinator Gilmar Rinaldi, and heard from Inter coach Roberto Mancini and sporting director Piero Ausilio that a decision will only be taken at the end of the season. The participation of the defender in the Copa América Centenário and the Olympics is not ruled out, but but all depends on the expectations of the Italian side for the next season in Europe, which begins in August as well. The Brazilian technical committee met with the coach and the leader of the Italian club on Saturday, before the match between Inter and Bologna. According to Globo Esporte, the meeting was quick, lasted just ten minutes, and wasn"t decisive. The club explained that their objective in the Champions League is too important to be placed in the background. Only the top two in the league have direct access to the group stages of the competition that starts in September. Inter Milan are currently 5th in the table, level on points with Fiorentina  [4th] and five behind 3rd placed AS Roma. The Champions League playoffs are scheduled for August 16/17 and 23/24, in the same period as the Rio Olympic Games [5 to 21 August]. If the Milan team doesn"t make it to the playoffs, Miranda could eventually be released for the Copa América Centenário and the Olympics.
