President Modesto Roma Júnior and players from Santos met on the morning of Wednesday at the club’s training centre to discuss debts of the board with the squad.
Ricardo Oliveira explained that the meeting was not to discuss his stay in Vila Belmiro after negotiations with Beijing Guoan. He qas quoted in Globo Esporte: “Today’s meeting between the president, coaching staff and players was not to discuss my stay at the club after the last negotiations. The conversation was to address wages and bonus payments, something that is already public knowledge. It was a quiet conversation, in which all parties talked only on the matter for which the meeting was proposed.”
The board’s debt with the players has not been revealed, but it is related to image rights and rewards promised by them. During Tuesday’s press-conference, midfielder Lucas Lima asked Modesto to value Ricardo Oliveira and other players, who gave up more money to stay, by increasing their wages. The report understands that players ensured the atmosphere in the training centre is good and there are no problems with the board. Modesto was wondering if there was some sort of discomfort among the players, but both the president and players left the meeting satisfied with what was discussed.
