When confirming the appointment of former Internacional executive manager Jorge Macedo as Fluminense"s new director, club president Peter Siemsen revealed on Sunday that he"s in talks with more than one name to replace coach Eduardo Baptista.
There is no deadline set to define the new coach, and former Atlético Mineiro coach Levir Culpi continues as a favorite to take charge. Peter said: “Jorge [Macedo] is signed. He arrives on Wednesday. About the coach… we are talking to some names, but hasn"t defined anything, yet. There is no reason to rush and miss. Let"s find the best way."
Peter denied that he"s in advanced negotiations with the future coach, and according to him, for example, there is no salary discussions with any of those intended for the job. Besides Levir, another name being quoted is Cuca, who won the Copa Libertadores with Atlético Mineiro, but is currently unemployed after ending his spell at Chinese side Shandong Luneng.
