After seeing their initial move get rejected, Chinese second-division side Tianjin Songjiang are reportedly preparing another proposal to sign Santos winger Geuvânio.
According to QQSports from the Chinese city of Tianjin, the team are offering €30 million to the Brazilian club for Geuvânio’s services. Tianjin Songjiang, coached by former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, have already signed Jádson and Luís Fabiano. Compared to their initial approach, the amount offered now is much higher and also meets the player’s release clause. Geuvânio recently stated to the press that he intends to stay at Santos, where he has a contract until the end of 2019.
Santos president Modesto Roma had already confirmed that he rejected an €8m offer from China for the 23-year-old. He said: “A Chinese team came to me with €8m. I said that it was a pleasure to receive this, but we could not afford to release Geuvânio for this value because the clause is €30m. I wanted them to do something else. Instead of buying player, investing in football here would be better.”
