Alexandre Pato has turned down a big money offer from Chinese football, but his decision has angered Corinthians.
Brasileirão champions Corinthians are desperate to recoup at least a part of the €15 million transfer fee they spent to bring Alexandre Pato from AC Milan. The club accepted to sell him to Chinese second-division side Tianjin Songjiang, coached by former Real Madrid manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo. According to UOL Esporte, Tianjin increased their salary offer to Pato in the past hours, but the player has frustrated Corinthians by refusing to accept it, despite being pressured. Pato has told people close to him and his representatives that he prioritizes career over money, and doesn’t want to follow Renato Augusto and Jádson who have already left for China. Pato is willing to leave Corinthians if there’s a reasonable proposal from a European club, but at this point, he’s ruled out any move to Asia.
