Wagner Ribeiro, agent of Lucas Lima, had claimed that there was a “wonderful” proposal from China for the playmaker, but Santos president Modesto has denied it and said the offer cannot be taken seriously.
Wagner Ribeiro told that Santos have received a €16 million bid from a Chinese team, who were willing to pay a salary of more than €230,000 per month for the player. However, in an interview with Band Sports on the morning of Tuesday, Modesto denied the numbers claimed by the agent, and said the offer was just €10m. He said: “It’s a lie. What arrived was a proposal of €10 million, to be paid in three instalments. We can not take it seriously. You can not take such a proposal seriously.”
In a telephone interview with SporTV, he added: “Santos received a very low proposal and Lucas Lima do not want to go to China. The offer is the only we’ve received, but we don’t have any interest in it and neither has the player. It’s an offer that makes no sense at all and shouldn’t really be taken into consideration.”
