Nigerians found the net three times in quick succession at the Estádio Sausalito in Viña del Mar, Chile, on Sunday to eliminate Brazil from the U17 World Cup.
Striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 29th minute of the first half, and in the very next minute, midfielder Kingsley Michael doubled their lead. In the 34th, Nigerians found the net again as forward Udochukwu Anumudu made it 3-0 to complete the scoresheet. In the second half, Nigeria slowed down, but Brazil only managed to create little, showing a performance similar to their opening games where they failed to convince. Atlético Paranaense goalkeeper Juliano made two great saves in the latter stages of the game which prevented the score from turning into a rout. Vasco’s Evander attempted to score directly from a corner and reduce the deficit but an intervention from Akpan Udo made sure the scoreline remained 3-0.
