From Brazil’s 7-1 loss to Germany at the World Cup to Chelsea’s ridiculously bad start to this season, to even looking back to the 2013-14 season when at one point he managed to get suspended for seven out of the nine Premier League matches. To sustaining a bombardment of injuries during Chelsea’s title winning season last campaign only making 24 appearances – the worst of his career, it hasn’t been all plain sailing for Ramires.
However, the man they call the Blue Kenyan at Stamford Bridge is now fit and has a new found belief to recapture the form that saw him named Chelsea’s Players’ Player of the year in 2011-12.
“Last season was somewhat atypical for me due to the injuries and I suffered a bit at the beginning of the current one with a knee problem, but now I"m completely recovered and I"ve been able to do the most I can on the pitch. I"m happy to be playing so well, but always focused on getting better. I think it"s by having this mindset that you can maintain a good level of play."
Speaking exclusively to ESPN Brasil’s Chelsea blog Blue Blood he has his say amongst the cacophony of opinions surrounding his clubs feeble defence of their league title so far.
It look as though the footballing Gods have turned against them and casting a spell on boss Jose Mourinho tasked to self-implode and bring his burgeoning kingdom crashing down with him.
But what does Ramires think is the problem for a team that were for large parts of the season streets ahead of their opposition last campaign?
It"s hard to find a logical explanation as the group remains the same from last season, but the important thing is that we"ve been working to turn things around. We know we have a great team […] and we are fighting on the pitch to get Chelsea back to the stability we need to fight for the top of the table, which is what should happen every time."
He insisted their is no agenda from the team against leader of the empire Mourinho and that it is just a matter of expelling this negativity around the club at the moment.
“There is no mutiny against Mourinho. If you take our last games you will see how everyone is running relentlessly, putting their lives on the line on the pitch, as we say. Whenever we"re under bad form, it"s only natural that negative speculations will arise, but the whole group isn"t paying attention to the outside and we"re focused on doing what Mourinho ask us to do and, consequently, help Chelsea to get back on the winning tracks."
The 28 year old Brazilian has been the bedrock of this Mourinho side since the Portuguese man’s return where he feels he can rely on Ramires in the big games both domestically and in Europe. If Chelsea are to escape the clutches of this evil presence that is threatening to tear them apart then men like Ramires, skipper John Terry and the enigmatic talent Eden Hazard must emerge from wherever they’ve been hiding since August.
