FIFA announced on Tuesday the list of 23 players for the Ballon d’Or, awarded to the best player in the world.
Barcelona forward Neymar is the only Brazilian player among the 23 players, and his club has the most representatives in the list, with six. Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, last year’s winner, are once again the favorites. The previous time the award went to a Brazilian was when Kaká won it in 2007. The 23-man list was defined by the experts of FIFA’s Football Committee and journalists from France Football magazine. The winner will be announced on January 11 next year at a ceremony in Zurich, and on November 30, the names of the three finalists of the award will be revealed.
