Atlético Mineiro’s Argentine striker Lucas Pratto voiced his frustration at the lack of opportunities afforded him for Argentina’s national team and suggested he would be open to playing for Brazil one day if he remains uncapped. The Galo striker has scored 12 goals so far in this season’s Brasileirão, but even with the likes of Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain and Sergio Aguero injured, Pratto is not considered an option for the Argentina national team.

In an interview with Argentine radio station En Linia on Thursday, Pratto said, “In attack the Argentine team always calls the same players. If the coach does not look this way, it will be hard to call other players.” With the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Carlos Tevez in reserve, Argentina are well stocked with players in Pratto’s position.

Pratto scored in Galo’s 2-1 win over Internacional on Wednesday, when asked whether he would consider playing for Brazil should he remain uncapped by his country of birth, Pratto answered, “If I do not have chances to play for Argentina and Brazil want me, we’ll see.” Pratto would need to play in Brazil for another 4 years without being capped by Argentina to become eligible for the Brazilian national team.
