Andreas Pereira has suggested that he has the confidence to succeed at Manchester United.

The Brazilian midfielder netted a free-kick in Wednesday’s League Cup win over Ipswich Town and confirmed after the game that he had persuaded Juan Mata to take the set-piece.

”I asked Juan for the ball,’ he said, as reported by MailOnline.

I always dreamt of this moment and I’m very happy – with my family here as well – to impress the manager and do well for my club.

“It’s a relief now that all the work I have done that I’m playing in the first team.

“We won the game tonight, I’m very happy. I just want to keep working harder and harder and do more in the future.”

Pereira’s self belief shows he perhaps, possesses the mental strength to make an impact in the United first-team.

Chances were always going to be limited for him the season and his insistence that he should take the free-kick suggests he is aware that he must take his opportunities when they are presented.

The fact he netted was also a timely reminder of what he can produce and he will be hopeful that it has earned him so more playing time in the near future.
