Following the win over rivals São Paulo, the challenge of coach Dorival Júnior is to contain the euphoria of the fans and players of Santos who are currently going through a very good period.
Since the arrival of Dorival, Santos have registered 11 wins, 3 draw and just a defeat, finding themselves just a point off the 4th Copa Libertadores spot currently occupied by Flamengo. However, Dorival tries to show his players that the team should not stay satisfied with the good football played in recent games and that they must seek to improve further. He was quoted in Globo Esporte: “Got to keep improving always. We cannot give us satisfaction. The championship is only in the 24th round; there’s 38.”
Santos return to the field on Sunday to face Ponte Preta at Campinas and will be boosted by the return of Lucas Lima who was away on international duty.
