Brazil Olympic national team played their third friendly fixture of 2015 on Tuesday, and were beaten by an U21 French side at Le Mans.
Brazil started the game on top and took the lead in just 13 minutes. Marseille midfielder Lucas Silva found left-back Wendell on the flank and his low cross was deflected into his own net by French defender Kimpembe. Brazilian joy was short lived as France responded quickly and were level 3 minutes later. Aston Villa"s new signing Jordan Amavi found French forward Haller who"s shot hit the Brazilian goalkeeper Éderson and then the post, with Amavi reacting quickly to fire home into an open goal. After 26 minutes, São Paulo defensive-midfielder Rodrigo Caio"s header from an Álisson free-kick found the net but the goal was disallowed for offside. Chelsea winger Kenedy then tried a curling effort on goal from outside the area which went just over the bar.
France came back strongly in the second-half and looked more dangerous offensively. Kingsley Coman had a golden chance to give France the lead as he was clear on goal but lost balance and his shot went wide after rounding the goalkeeper. France"s persistence paid off and they took the lead following a mistake from Rodrigo Caio. He slipped inside the box, thereby failing in his attempt to clear the ball following a French free-kick, allowing Haller to shoot on goal. Brazil made several changes in the second-half and the introduction of Manchester United"s Andreas Pereira added some spark to their side. He found Grêmio forward Luan with a sweet pass after expertly moving away from his marker but Luan"s ferocious effort rebounded off the crossbar. Midfielder Otávio, who had entered the pitch as a second-half substitute, was taken off by coach Rogério Micalle in the latter stages of the game following his very poor display in which he conceded silly fouls and got booked.
Earlier this year, Brazil Olympic team had played friendlies against Paraguay [won 4-1] and Mexico.
