Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş has blocked a move for Marseille defender Dória, according to reports.
The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Spor Toto Süper Lig outfit were set to close deals for both Dória and Manchester United goalkeeper Víctor Valdés, but Güneş has decided to stall their arrival.
Quite why the tactician has acted so forcefully with the duo on the brink of signing is currently unclear, but it is now unlikely that any more players will arrive at Beşiktaş before the summer transfer window closes.
For Dória, it leaves his future very much open. The 20 year-old is yet to make an appearance for Marseille, following his move from Botafogo for a reported fee of €5 million in September 2014 and was expected to be transferred.
He spent a spell on loan at São Paulo between February and June of this year, where he made 13 appearances and scored once.
Dória may yet still be given a chance back at Marseille howerver, if new manager Michel deems him a worthy member of his squad.
The Spaniard replaced Marcelo Bielsa at the helm earlier this month and with Dória’s exclusion at Marseille largely considered to be down to him, the centre-back could be brought back into contention.
