Vasco coach Jorginho, on taking over at the club on his 51st birthday, has revealed he is confident that his side will avoid relegation this season, despite their current position, rock bottom of the league. Jorginho spent many seasons as a player at the club, and he says he knows what it will take to keep his team among the elite.
He told a packed press conference: “The first thing I want to say is that it is a great joy to be able to take this position as Vasco coach. On the day of my birthday, I could not receive a better gift than this. I feel honoured, it’s a club with which I have already had a great career. I accept this challenge with great faith, and I really believe we’ll get out of this situation. “
