Former World Player of the Year Kaka has praised Liverpool’s Phillippe Coutinho and believes he could be their new Steven Gerrard.
Coutinho has matured into a terrific attacking midfielder over the last season and a half and Kaka had nothing but nice comments in regards to his compatriot.
“I have been a big admirer of Coutinho and he can be a very important player for Liverpool and Brazil,” Kaka told the Daily Mirror. “One great player doesn’t make a team, but you can build a team around one great player, and I believe he can be that player.”
“Coutinho is a humble guy. He won’t talk about being able to replace a legend like Steven Gerrard, and the truth is nobody could ever replace him, but with Gerrard gone they do need somebody to step up — and he can do that.”
Coutinho started his season in terrific style with a beautiful strike against Stoke City in Liverpool’s 1-0 win on Sunday.
