Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva is pleased with how the team have coped with this season’s demands.

Laurent Blanc’s side secured their third consecutive Ligue 1 title on Saturday with a 2-1 win at Montpellier.

The L’Hexagoal trophy that they will lift is the third honour they have won this season, following on from the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophée des Champions.

PSG can add a fourth piece of silverware to their collection if they beat Auxerre in the Coupe de France Final on 30th May, with the UEFA Champions League the only trophy available to them at the start of the campaign that they will miss out on.

Having competed in the latter stages in almost all the competitions they have been involved in, Silva acknowledges that PSG have been pushed hard this term, but he is pleased that they have shown their quality.

“We have a very good team. I am happy because this year has been more difficult than the last,” he told L’Équipe, as reported by website ca2015.

“I want to congratulate everyone because we played a lot of matches. Four competitions is mentally challenging.”

Silva was signed by PSG from Milan in July 2012 for a reported fee of €42 million. The 30 year-old, who is contracted until June 2018, has made 114 appearances for the club, scoring eight times, and won five major honours.

This season, his involvement has been hampered by injury, but he’s still featured 38 times in all competitions and is expected to be in the Brazil squad for next month’s Copa América.
