Chelsea’s Oscar took the advice of medical personnel who told him it would be best to miss this summer’s Copa America.

The 23 year old has injured his right quadricep which is an injury which takes six weeks to heal. Both Chelsea and Brazil’s medical team agreed that rushing him back for this summer’s tournament would be too risky.

Dunga was quick to make it clear that Oscar will be part of his plans after this summer. He said that part of the thinking over excluding him from the squad was so that Oscar would be even fitter for World Cup qualifying games next year.

“Oscar had an injury in training at Chelsea, Mourinho talked to the doctor and Chelsea, his recovery will be a long while. He will not be in top condition during the Copa America. We think he better be prepared for the qualifying games in a few months time.”
