Corinthians are ready to make a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho.

The Timão’s Director of Football, Edu, has seemingly opened the door to a bid for the 26 year-old, who they sold to Tottenham for a reported fee of €19.73 million in July 2013.

The financial requirements needed to do a deal would perhaps, make finding an agreement difficult for Corinthians, but Edu is confident that they can satisfy Tottenham’s demands.

“Paulinho is still a very popular player over here,” he said, as reported by website Mail Online.

“There are always obstacles but I don’t feel the finances will prove a problem.”

A potential stumbling block in Corinthians’ attempt to re-sign Paulinho could be interest from Italy.

Internazionale, Milan and Juventus are all believed to be keen on pursuing him in the summer transfer window, while the latter reportedly bid around €21 million in January.

Tottenham rejected that offer, but Paulinho is seemingly set to be moved on, after a difficult two seasons in London.

The Brazil international – capped 32 times – managed eight goals in 37 appearances last term, but this season has netted just twice in 29 matches and has started just three times in the Premier League.

Paulinho’s most successful spell in his career to date came with Corinthians. After being signed in May 2010, he went on to score 25 goals in 112 matches and was part of a side that won four major honours, including the Copa Libertadores de América and FIFA Club World Cup, in 2012.
