Liverpool are ready to rival Juventus’ pursuit of Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto, according to reports.

Website Tutto Mercato Web, as cited by Squawka, claims that the Reds still want to bring in Neto, despite strong suggestions that he is set to sign for Juventus.

The Bianconeri are believed to have been courting the 25 year-old for some time and are said to be closing in on an agreement to sign him.

Neto is out of contract in June and made it clear that he would not be renewing his deal with Fiorentina in January.

At that point, he was temporarily cut from the team, but was brought back in following an injury to Ciprian Tătărușanu in February and has been first choice ever since.

The Brazilian is reportedly ready to move to Juventus and accept being second choice behind Gianluigi Buffon, so Liverpool would seemingly have their work cutout trying to persuade him to sign with them instead.

The Reds’ goalkeeping situation is currently unclear, following Simon Mignolet’s recent run of form.

The Belgium international was dropped earlier in the season and replaced with Brad Jones, but since returning to the first-team he has impressed and now kept 17 clean sheets in 47 appearances in all competitions.

In contrast, Neto has kept eleven clean sheets in 29 matches for Fiorentina, while his overall record since arriving from Atlético Paranaense for a reported fee of €3.5 million in January 2011 is 32 in 91 matches.
