Juventus will compete with Manchester City for FC Porto full-back Alex Sandro, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Brazil international – capped six times – was watched by a Juventus scout during their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first against Bayern Munich, at Estádio do Dragão.

Sandro played 90 minutes in that match and though he was yellow carded, he provided an assist for forward Jackson Martínez to net Porto’s third goal in a 3-1 win.

The left full-back has been with the Azuis e Brancos since they signed him from Deportivo Maldonado for a reported fee of €9.6 million in July 2011.

The 24 year-old, who is contracted until June 2016, has won three major honours with the club and scored three goals in 128 appearances.

This season, he has netted once in 35 matches and is being targeted by Juventus as an alternative to Patrice Evra.

The Bianconeri were forced to bring Paolo De Ceglie back from Parma in January to provide cover for the France international, with Kwadwo Asamoah, who can deputise at left full-back, out injured.

Manchester City’s rivalling interest comes as reports suggest the squad will be rebuilt in the summer transfer window.

Serbia international Aleksandar Kolarov is seen as a possible player who could leave as a part of that overhaul and if that is the case, then Sandro would be an obvious candidate to replace him.
