Brazilian midfielder Philipe Coutinho struck a sublime winner to send Liverpool into the FA Cup semi-final as they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at Ewood Park last night.
The quarter final replay was a tight affair, with Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet making two outstanding saves to keep his team in the game, but Coutinho made the difference late on when he exchanged a one-two with Jordan Henderson before driving into the far corner of the net from a tight angle.
Liverpool will now face Aston Villa at Wembley in the semi-final as they bid to atone for their likely failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
