Alves, 31, is set to leave Barcelona this summer when his contract expires, and he already has a host of offers. Manchester United are ahead in the race, but the Daily Star reports Liverpool are set to hijack the deal. They’re ready to offer him a deal after allowing Glen Johnson to leave, with Alves seen as the ideal replacement. Liverpool could have to offer the Brazilian a deal worth £120,00-a-week, but the club are said to be ‘hopeful’ of sealing his signature.
