Nabil Bentaleb has played down his confrontation with Diego Costa during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory in the Carling Cup on Sunday.
Tottenham’s Bentaleb appeared to have his face clawed by the striker around 30 minutes from time. The Algerian midfielder didn’t seem too concerned though.
“Was he lucky not to be given a card? Maybe. I don’t know what was happening in his head, but I stayed focused on my game,” Bentaleb said. “Sometimes you have arguments with players. It’s nothing bad. This kind of thing happens every weekend.”
Costa has been in a number of controversial incidents since he arrived at Chelsea in the summer. His combative approach has led to him being an unpopular player outside of Chelsea.
