Gabriel Paulista has made headlines for his lack of English in recent weeks but team mate Kieran Gibbs has said it hasn’t prevented him settling into the group.
Paulista joined Arsenal last month from Villarreal and helped his new club keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on Sunday. Gibbs was impressed with the 24 year old’s performance.
“I felt he came in on his debut and did extremely well. He looks like he has been playing at this level for a long time. He has settled in straight away which is good for us.”
Paulista has to convince manager Arsene Wenger that he is better than Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny before he can become a permanent member of first team plans.
