Maxi Rodríguez has confirmed his move to Universidad de Chile in a recent interview.

24 year old Rodríguez will make the move on Wednesday in what will be a season long loan from Grêmio. The attacking midfielder joined Vasco da Gama last year in a similar deal and helped the club gain promotion from Série B.

Rodríguez joined Grêmio in 2013 on a four year deal but has found it hard to break into the team in recent seasons. A successful season in Chile might force manager Scolari into including him in his plans.

“I am very happy to work in a team like La U. Even though I did not sign anything, there is an agreement,” said Rodríguez, “I travel on Wednesday. I talked to the president and asked for a few days to resolve some issues. I am very happy to go to Chile.”
