Ronaldinho has ended speculation over his future by signing a two-year deal with Mexican side Queretaro.

The 34-year-old has been out of contract since July and has been linked with a whole host of clubs.

Premier League side Queens Park Rangers were said to be interested, whilst various teams from Brazil registered an interest in adding the former Barcelona star.

Yesterday, English non-league team Basingstoke Town made an audacious attempt to sign the Brazilian legend but that offer has fallen on deaf ears.

It was confirmed on Friday that Queretaro were interested in Ronaldinho as the Mexican clubs sporting director Adolfo Rios was quoted by Eurosport discussing the deal.

“There are negotiations, but nothing has yet been sealed,” Rios said yesterday before the player himself confirmed the move with a statement from his Facebook page.

Ronaldinho said: “Now it’s official. Jersey #49 ! My lucky number. I hope to repeat and live the same moments.

“I chose Mexico because all the affection I always received here. I am very motivated to represent Queretaro F.C.”

So Ronaldinho will be plying his trade in Mexico this season, should they release somebody from their quota of five foreign players why the club are expected to do.
