Figueirense and former Brazil international left-back Kleber has announced his retirement from football after giving up on a thigh injury that would keep him out for at least three months.

The injury happened in a game with Sport on August 3, and Kleber has decided that to go on would prove harmful to his future health.

He told reporters: “I couldn’t beleive it when it happened and I made the decision right there.”

“Coaching is the last thing I’d do! I already have an office opened in Sao Paulo which takes care of athletes and I intend to give more attention to it. It’s a new profession, but I have studied and am enjoying it.”

The 34 year-old won 21 caps for Selecao between 2002 and 2010, scoring one goal in the process.
