Virtus Lanciano are set to sign goalkeeper Nicolas from Hellas Verona, according to reports.
Respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Serie B side were expecting to conclude a deal for the 26 year-old on Saturday.
Nicolas was signed from Campeonato Brasileiro Série D outfit Anapolina in July 2010, but has made just four appearances across four seasons for Hellas. Last term, he featured just once – a 5-1 loss to Napoli in the final weekend of the Serie A season.
Fellow Brazilian Rafael has been the preferred first choice during Nicolas’s spell at Hellas and it seems that he is now set to move on to secure first-team football.
At Virtus Lanciano – should he join – he will be competing with Vincenzo Aridità, Angelo Casadei and 20 year-old Romanian Laurențiu Brănescu for a starting berth.
The Abruzzo based outfit are coached by former journeyman midfielder Roberto D’Aversa, who is taking up his first managerial role. Last season, Virtus came 10th in Serie B – just two points short of the play-offs.
