Pablo Mouche last night scored his first goal for new club Palmeiras and afterwards expressed his delight at helping the club get back to winning ways following an horrendous run of league form.

Argentine Mouche, 26, scored the only goal of the game as Palmeiras beat Avai 1-0 to record a 3-0 aggregate win and advance into the final stages of the Copa Libertadores at the expense of their Serie B opponents.

Mouche said after the match: “I’m very happy because it was a goal that helped the team.”

“A month ago I arrived, so I have gotten to know the technical staff; it is a process of adaptation that has to be done with confidence. I’m here to help Palmeiras when needed. This is the most important thing.

Mouche joined the Sao Paulo-based side at the start of June from Turkish team Kayserispor on a four-year deal for a fee in the region of £3.5 million.
