The company sent a message to Serie A club directors on Friday and aims to chair a meeting with all those involved towards the end of this month, Lancenet! has revealed.

TV Globo owns the rights to broadcast Brazilian league matches but has often been criticised for its insistence on late kick-off times during the week to allow it to broadcast equally popular soap operas beforehand.

As well as discussing the league’s calendar and financial aspects, the company also wants to discuss themes such as youth development at Brazil’s top clubs.

“It’s a sure sign that everybody is worried about Brazilian football. We will wait to see exactly what is being proposed,” said Chapecoense president Sandro Pallaoro.

It is thought that Globo’s concern is the numbers of those watching televised games, with audiences falling by 10% per season in recent years.
