Everton Ribeiro scored in Cruzeiro’s 3-1 win over Vitória on Thursday night but called for his team to continue taking their season game by game.

The reigning Brasileirão champions sit top of the table after just ten matches but the 25-year-old winger is taking nothing for granted just yet.

He was pleased to find the net against Vitória, his strike Raposa’s third after an own goal and Ricardo Goulart had put them two goals ahead.

Speaking to Lancenet after the game, Ribeiro said: “I am glad to be able to score, it is even more beautiful in this scene of major players.

“The most important thing is to help Cruzeiro though and to think ahead to the next game.

“I am happy to take this victory with my companions. We must maintain this form, game by game. We need to improve every game to keep the Cruzeiro in front.”

If Ribeiro continues performing like he did against Vitória then it will certainly aid Cruzeiro’s cause and it will also help the 25-year-olds ambition to be selected for the national team.

More goals and Cruzeiro wins for Ribeiro will surely earn him a place in the Brazil squad soon.
