Arjen Robben feels the Netherlands have done amazingly well to reach the last four of the 2014 World Cup but couldn’t hide his disappointment at missing out on a second consecutive World Cup final.
Holland reached the final in 2010 but lost in a disappointing fashion to Spain, in a match where their imposed themselves too much physically on their opponents.
Yesterday, Argentina were the opposition but Robben and his team mates couldn’t find a way to get past them and crashed out 4-2 on penalties.
The Bayern Munich winger took great pride from their displays in Brazil though, Football Italia quoted Robben: “We’ve done amazingly well to come this far.
“Of course right now I feel disappointment, but we’ve done our best.
“From the bottom of my heart I can truthfully say you can see how everyone was behind the team. I think we can all be very proud of these players.”
Interestingly, the Dutch winner hinted that the Europeans won’t be too bothered about Saturday’s 3rd/4th place play-off.
Robben concluded with: “I think we should quickly change our mindset.”
