Brazil forward Fred has admitted he is trying to improve and rediscover his goalscoring form.

The 30-year-old has struggled in the two matches of the World Cup so far and critics are circling on the striker.

However, he told Sky Sports he is certain he’ll find his goalscoring touch against Cameroon on Monday.

Fred said: “I am trying to improve, to start scoring goals again.

“It wasn’t possible today and it wasn’t possible in the first game either, but I am sure I’ll score against Cameroon.”

Mexico held Brazil to a stalemate in the second Group A match and proved once again to be tough opposition.

Fred wasn’t surprised by the quality of the Mexicans and listed the previous meeting in the 2013 Confederations Cup as proof that the match wouldn’t be easy.

He added: “We were already expecting this level of difficulty because in the Confederations Cup we only scored the second goal in the end.

“It was a very tough and open game. But today it was even more open, with chances for both teams and I must congratulate their goalkeeper, who made at least four miraculous saves.”
