Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has admitted it is a dream to be representing Seleção in the World Cup.

The 29-year-old hadn’t been anywhere near the national team for years prior to his transfer to the Premier League but his form with the title winners has earned him a recall.

Now Fernandinho is expected to play a vital role in the tournament and he conceded the whole situation makes it a unique moment.

Sky Sports quoted the former Shakhtar Donetsk ace, he said: “It’s very exciting. To play a World Cup was always a dream. Now I’ve got a chance to do it in my own country.

“A lot of players wanted to play in it but the 23 who have been picked are lucky guys. To play for Brazil in Brazil – this is something which may not happen again for 100 years.

“It’s a dream and one which has come true for me. After a good year, a good season at City, my target is now in front of me. They keep coming.”

The next target for Fernandinho and his international team mates will be to win the 2014 World Cup and they kick off the tournament tonight against Croatia.
