The player’s agent, Daisy Brandino, has been speaking to GloboEsporte.com about the midfielder’s journey to the World Cup in Brazil.
Fernandinho tasked Brandino with securing him a move so that he could win a place with the national team.
Brandino said that the £34 million transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk to the current English Premier League champions was crucial to the player’s World Cup hopes.
She said: “When I saw that City were changing the board, putting together a new structure, I thought it was perfect. It was a place which would suit a player arriving from Ukraine, [with] many new people, excellent players."
The move and Fernandinho’s inclusion in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad stem from the player’s self-belief, according to his agent.
“He was sure he could get in the team, and he has," said Brandino.
