Brazil’s assistant coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira, has claimed that it is as important to get things right off the field in relation to the World Cup, as it is to do the business on the pitch.

Dealing with the added pressures of being host nation will also be a factor that needs to be negotiated by the Brazilians, and Parreira told reporters at the first day of official training: “It’s not easy. It entails the operational side of things, logistics, planning, the relationships with the fans, the media, the working atmosphere.”

Parreira continued: “We have a great team. the team is very good. We are confidentin these players- just look at the team we have.”

The man who will assist Luiz Felipe Scolari lifted the trophy as coach in the USA in 1994 and spoke of the importance of lifting the World Cup at home: “Of the big teams, we are the only one to have never won at home. We want to rewrite history.”
