The Rio de Janeiro club claims that they played a role in the development of the Brazil captain, according to GloboEsporte.com.

América are currently gathering evidence to present to the Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro.

According to FIFA rules, clubs that develop a player between 12 and 23 years of age should receive 5% of future transfer fees.

The Paris St-Germain defender had multiple spells at Fluminense and also played with Milan, Dynamo Moscow and Porto in Europe.
