Former Italy international Gennaro Gattuso insists Brazil “are the team to beat” at next month’s World Cup.

The 36 year-old, who was part of the Azzurri squad that won the tournament in 2006, also favours Germany and Argentina, but believes Italy may be slow starters.

“Brazil are the team to beat at the World Cup, but the Germans always go far and watch out for Argentina, as now they are very organised,” he told Radio Sportiva, as reported by Football Italia.

“Italy are a strange side, as we need a bit of itching powder on the backside to get us going. History teaches us this.”
