Jonathan has asked the Internazionale supporters to be patient with them as they try to end the season successfully and start to win again at home.

The Nerazzurri lost to AC Milan on Sunday in the ‘away’ derby match but they have failed to win at the San Siro since mid march when they defeated Torino 1-0.

The Brazilian defender previewed this weekend’s home match against Lazio and has asked for the fans to continue supporting them, even if they do make mistakes at home.

Jonathan told Sky Sport 24: “We still have a couple more days to work and we must now think about Lazio.

“They are a difficult team who always make it difficult for Inter.

“We need to change our attitude when we are at home because the fans are there for us and they support us.

“We must therefore have more motivation and we ask them to have a little more patience if we make a mistake.”

Inter are firmly in the hunt for a Europa League spot and if they do get there, the 28-year-old is confident they’ll do well.

Jonathan said: “We know that our fans are expectant because we are a big club.

“I am sure that Inter has everything in place to do well in Europe and if we get there we will be able to compete alongside Juventus, Roma and others.”
