José Mourinho has refused to discuss rumours linking Chelsea with a move for Atlético Madrid forward Diego Costa.

Reports earlier this week suggested that the 25 year-old, along with team-mate Filipe Luís, was close to agreeing a switch to the southwest London based club.

“We are not going to be buying and selling and selling and buying,” said Mourinho, as reported by Football Espana.

“We’re going to do a couple of critical signings. Is a striker a target for us? Yes, we’ve never denied that.

“Diego Costa is a good player but he’s an Atlético Madrid player so I cannot say much.”

Diego Costa has had a phenomenal season for Atlético Madrid. The Spanish international, who struck a crucial penalty as Los Colchoneros knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League on Wednesday, has scored 35 goals in 41 appearances.
