Gremio striker Hernan Barcos has spoken of the fear he experienced after his side were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores by Argentine side San Lorenzo in midweek- as opposing fans intimidated him by launching an attack on his vehicle.
Barcos, who was one of Gremio’s offending penalty shootout villains, told goal.com.br that post-match, he was with his young daughter when the incident happened: “I understand the attitudes of fans, but to a certain extent.”
“After the game, I was with my daughter in my arms and about six guys came cursing and hitting my car when I left. There must be respect.”
Barcos revealed that when he did eventually get home, he found it impossible to switch off after such a tough loss: “I was with family, talking about everything that happened. I just went to bed at 5 a.m. and lay on the pillow, thinking of all that could have happened.”
