Brazilian forward Ewerthon Henrique de Souza (24 years old) who had left Borussia Dortmund (Germany) to Zaragoza last summer has been elected the best South American player playing in the Spanish Liga.

He is ahead of young Argentinian Messi (Barcelona) and Brazilian Fredson, the Espanyol Barcelona midfielder. Ronaldinho nominated in 2004, arrives at the twelfth place.

Ewerthon is the sixth Brazilian to receive this prize after Romário (1994), Ronaldo (1997 and 2003), Roberto Carlos (1998), Rivaldo (1999) and Ronaldinho (2004).
