Liverpool moved one step closer to the Premier League title yesterday as they overcame a defiant Norwich team 3-2 to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Lucas Leiva played the whole 90 minutes for the Reds and played a pivotal role in helping them earn three points.

The Brazilian spoke to Liverpoolfc.com after the game and praised the togetherness of the squad.

Lucas said: “It’s one of the key things – togetherness, character and quality as well. The goals we scored today showed that we have the understanding.

“The players have the understanding between each other. It just shows that we are going the right way.

“Three games to go and hopefully we can keep this good run going. If we win the three games, we will be champions.”

Lucas went on to explain how there was added significance after Chelsea were defeated by Sunderland and Manchester City had been held by the same opposition on Wednesday.

Lucas discussed the pressure on them before the game too, adding: “We knew how important this game was, especially after the results for City and Chelsea.

“People are talking about the pressure that we are having to play with – but I think we showed again that we have a lot of confidence. It doesn’t matter who plays, the team is doing well. That’s the main thing.

“We got the three points. In the first half, we dominated the game. We knew in the second half they had to come out and try to do something; they got an early goal, which made it difficult for us.

“But at the end, we showed a lot of character and we got the three points. That’s the main thing.”
