Alexandre Pato has described his feelings after scoring his first goal for Sao Paulo in last week’s Copa do Brasil win against CSA and promised fans of Tricolor that he will strive to score many more for the team during his loan period from fellow Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

The 24 year-old told Goal: “I’ll devote myself more and more to bring a smile to every Sao Paulo fan. I was surprised when they started singing my name, it made me very happy.”

“I have to thank the fans for the affection they gave me at the stadium, it was phenomenal. For this to happen again depends on me.”

“I was thrilled because it felt like my first career goal.”

Pato joined Corinthians from AC Milan ahead of the 2013 season but never really got settled as he made a bid to force himself into Brazil’s World Cup squad. That now seems a distant prospect but the building of a strong relationship with Sao Paulo fans will go some way to make up for his disappointment.
