Cruzeiro midfielder Tinga, who was the subject of shocking racist abuse during a rcent Copa Libertadores fixture, has lamented the fine given out to opponents Real Garcilaso as unjust and a step in the wrong direction.
Tinga endured chanting of the unhealthiest nature when his side were playing in Peru and after a $12,000 fine was dished out as a result of the incident, the player responded with: “I hoped that the punishment would be more than a fine and a warning.”
“I wanted it to be a punishment with a social impact. The club have to do a social prject to educate fans about the importance of combating racism”, he told Globo Mines.
